MVFD September Burn

Its been a while since my last post! August was an extremely busy month for us in between harvest and getting horses ready for our sale! It was good, but am glad August is over!
It rained at the beginning of the week which slowed harvest down and made for great conditions for this house burn out on a farm a short distance away from our town. Its so awesome that this department gets so many opportunities to go out and do practice burns like this. It just hones their skills for "the real thing" when it happens! Again, I was blessed to be able to attend the burn and do some photos for this department! It was alot of fun, as always! If there are other firefighters and/or fire departments viewing these pictures and are interested in having some taken of your own practices or even "live ones", I do take photos for other departments as well, so please feel free to contact me! Thiessen Family

This was fun! I felt so honoured to be asked to take family pictures for this wonderful family! This family is very special to my husband and I! We love and appreciate them tons! I tried to make this as quick as possible so that the two boys who are only home for a visit had enough time to get out "just one more time" with their buddies! I picked out a few spots to take pics and considering it was in the brightest light of the day, I think we did pretty good! They were a fun bunch to work with and we had lots of fun! I hope these shots are "unique and different" enough from the norm in this area! I sincerely hope you enjoy them as it was my absolute pleasure to take them! God bless!

Big rapids & beautiful water!

Again, the title sums up all the photos below! All the photos below were taken at Berry Creek near beautiful Sioux Narrows, Ontario! I am so blessed to have had family out there all of my life and still have family there to be able to go and see this beautiful part of Canada. It is not a far drive from where I live so when the mood strikes, we hop in the car and head east! Water is absolutely amazing. How it acts, bubbles, churns, and erodes. The marks it leaves on the shoreline and in the rocks! The first 3 photos are taken right beside big rapids. The water on the creek is super high this year which made for some nice photo ops. The first photo is of overflowing water running through cracks in the rock. The 2nd photo is in a little pool on the last steppe before the big rapids end, and the 3rd photo is of again, the high water running over a crack and sand in the rock, which I thought looked totally cool! The last 7 photos are of the rapids from the top right to the bottom. You can see where the rapids start, how they act in the middle, and where the drop off and end! There were enough rocks that were available to climb almost to the middle of the big water and there I used my big lens and got some up close & personal shots of the water! I had lots of fun taking these! See the beauty of God's creation while enjoying these photos!

Beautiful light, nature & a rugged outdoorsman!

The title of this post sums up all the photos below. As mentioned in an earlier post called "Adventures in Fishing", we recently were in Sioux Narrows, Ontario visiting family and having a nice, relaxing weekend away. We had all kinds of weather, sun, no sun, rain, wind, hot & even cold. But, this made for all kinds of photos to be taken. There was some beautiful light that I took advantage of and played around and took some shots! The first photo is of the clouds and the sun dancing off the water as we were out on the lake in the boat. The second photo was taken in the evening in a quiet bay, and the dock just looked totally cool in the light! The 3rd photo is of a golden eagle that we saw while cruising around the lake in the boat. The photo certainly doesn't do him any justice! He was beautiful! The 4th and 5th pictures are of a black bear that was quiet, patient and stayed put long enough for me to snap a couple shots! Not anything to enter into Field and Stream magazine by any means, but nice to photo anyway! Last but not least, is a photo of my rugged, yet handsome, outdoorsman of a husband! I love this man to pieces & am so thankful that he let me take some pictures of him while out on a hike in the woods! He is my best friend and I am blessed beyond measure to have him as my husband! He is the very best & I love him so very much! Anyway, enough of the mushy stuff! Hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I had fun taking them! :)

Adventures in Fishing

Hi! Its been a while since our last post. We have been a little busy between work, riding lots & lots of horses, yard work, housework, family stuff & the list goes on & on. But we did manage to sneak away for a long weekend and head out to Lake of The Woods to get some much needed R & R! It was so worth it. The smell at the lake just does wonders for the body & soul. The air is so fresh but with that woodsy piney smell, it just makes me feel so good! I have spent a great deal of time over my lifetime thus far at Lake of The Woods. I have always had family out there and they are always so gracious enough to have us come & stay so, from time to time we take advantage of that blessing. We decided to head out & do some fishing. We didn't have a boat so we went out to one of the little back lakes off one of the logging roads that we know. We had a really great fishing day that day and caught a few fish. It was so nice back there. It was just my man & I! No one else was around and it was peaceful & still. My hubby caught a real nice bass. 1 inch away from a master angler. Boo! But it was still fun reeling it in & snapping a couple pics. We also caught some jack, but threw them back as they weren't big enough to keep and we prefer to keep the walleyes! Below are some photos from our fishing adventure on our getaway! You can see the beauty of the lake & the peacefulness of the area! We had a great time there, as always!

Summer colors

Well, I think summer is finally here! The flowers that have been dormant all winter are now blooming and bursting with fantastic color! I just love it when the flowers that we only see in summer are in full bloom. What a beautiful blessing! Below are some pictures I got the other day, just out in the garden. Enjoy!

Riding horses & more horses!

Its the end of June already! I am so bad at posting these days! But its for a good reason! We have been able to get in lots of riding time on our horses. We have had some decent weather despite the rains, so we have been blessed with lots of time to ride our ponies! We were busy in April and May readying horses for our spring sale. Once that was over with we could concentrate on the horses we want to sell privately and horses we want to finish. I have also been working with my new barrel horse prospect and had the pleasure of attending a barrel racing clinic with 5x NFR Qualifier Sherrylynn Johnson. If you ever get the chance to go to a clinic with her as the clinician, GO! It is more than worth the money! I was blessed to have her standing in our arena at the ranch teaching the clinic! It was totally fun! I am so pleased with my new prospect! He is working out great! She taught us lots of new techniques and lots of horsemanship. Lots of tools we can apply to riding the other young prospects that we have for sale and are finishing. Below are some photos of one horse that is for sale at this time and one horse that may be for sale in the future. Both horses are sound and coming along nicely. I felt like I was out of practice with taking livestock shots, so it was good to be back out there practicing again & shooting one of my great loves! The first 2 pictures below are of the horse that we have for sale at this time. His name is Leo Drift Zip (we call him Cisco). He is a registered Quarter Horse Gelding. He stands about 15HH at this time and is filling out nicely. He may have a little more growing to do, but not too much! He is coming along really nice and will make a super ranch, rope, or arena horse. At this time he takes a little more of an experienced rider. With time, and the more broke he gets, he should become quieter. He has a smooth gait, is willing, and wants to please! Please inquire for price.

The last 3 photos are of a horse names Boons Feature Shot (we call him Yellow). He is a registered, Quarter Horse Gelding. At this time he stands 15.3HH almost 16HH. He is a mighty big boy already and is not done growing either. He is already quite stout and with another year's growth, he will be even bigger. He has had 11 rides at this point and is coming along super. We plan to start him on barrels and start him on cattle. This horse is not for sale at this time! We want to see what he can do and then will decide at a later date what the price will be for this super handsome fellow!
